Korea Race Report

Well we have just finished the world cup in Korea, and im a
bit smashed so bear with me and my spelling.

So this race was one that i needed to get my confidence back and put my name back out there to be prepared for next year, and i think i did exactly that. It’s certainly my best performance so far, but there is so much more to come and i can feel that in my running, but for the moment im gonna soak up what is my best performance so far and be bloody proud and stoaked of how i raced today!

there was a big Russian contingent here today which meant a fast swim/bike…..but today they didnt seem all that fast! It changed to be a non wetsuit swim an hour before hand, so this was going to suit the better swimmers. I had an awesome swim and got myself out in the lead pack about 6th place, all i could see in front of me coming into transition were these blue suits 1) Russian 2) Russian 3) Russian 4) France 5) Russian then BOOM ME in the Black strip.

But onto the bike and it was all very pedestrian form there no one really worked, even though it was a little hilly course. All of us NZ guys Tom Davison, james Elvery and myself all stuck near the front and did a little work to keep it evenly paced.

Onto the run, i went out solid and kept it that way, sitting in the chase pack in 2nd place for 6km were 4 of us trying to run down the Wolrd number 4 from Russia. But it got to 5km and i thought “just one more lap hard then re evaluate things” i was going through good patches….rough patches….really rough patches….then good again so i decided to stay in the bunch. but about 6km they all started surging and i was in a lot of pain and couldnt really keep up but just thought “it ain gonna last forever, just think about the pain later, think about how good jimmies mince pies are or something”. So coming into the end 1km to go i was cramping, my feet were blistered, i was blurry eyed, but gave it absolute everything to the finish and came in 7th, very happy with the result, a little dissapointed for the fact “it could have been” but i couldnt give any more so yea thats my story haha. Very happy.

Now to WATCH THE FOOTY.

THANKS ALL FOR THE SUPPORT AND SEE YOU ALL SOON!
